Consultation - City of York Development Plan
June 15th, 2009
The LDF processes are very complex and wide ranging and York and Selby District Branch executive committee recognise that they don’t have the resources to get involved in all policy areas. They have therefore decided to concentrate on resisting in appropriate developments in the Green Belt.
A public consultation is expected to take place in August regarding the next stage of the development of the York LDF. This will include the assessment of the land available to meet the forecast of 19,780 dwellings required over the next 20 years.
CPRE York and Selby’s analysis of the draft assessments indicate a significant allocation of sites within the Draft Green Belt. The committee will register CPRE’s general policies on the protection of Green Belt land and stress the priority for housing should be by using brown field sites. Obviously the CPRE case would be strengthened if the branch could elaborate on the characteristics of each individual site and that is where local knowledge is so important.
The sites likely to be on the list when the document is eventually released for public consultation are:

The public will only have six weeks to comment and York & Selby branch would therefore like to start preparing noe for a comprehensive response. If anyone has any local knowledge of these sites which would be used to sustain an objection to the use of the site for house building.
Frank Paterson, Vice Chairman of York and Selby District will be leading the project and would be pleased to hear from anyone with information on any of the sites. He can be contacted on 01904 708478 or via frankpaterson@talktalk.net
