Councillor Julie Hepworth attended the school assembly on Monday to present 2 certificates. The first from Pride in Pickering Litter Group for one of the Tidiest Grounds in Town and the second certificate from the CPRE, a commendation for looking after their environment. York and Selby District held a ‘Stop the Drop’ litter pick on Saturday 15th November. The event was organised in conjunction with the City of York Council and Copmanthorpe Parish Council. The team of 16 volunteers recovered 47 bags of rubbish from the verges and Sustrans cycle track.

CPRE National Office have just launched a competition on Bill Bryson’s Facebook page that may be of interest to everyone! As a way of highlighting the litter problem, Bill is asking people to take a photo of incidents of litter or fly-tipping on any weekend until 1 December 2008.
